General Job Description


A dispatcher is to coordinate our drivers with accuracy, courtesy, and superb service. This position assigns job tasks to drivers efficiently with the ability to exercise independent judgment and possess the ability to work daily with our truck drivers in a professional and courteous manner. The dispatcher is responsible for the scheduling and management of truck drivers’ daily loads and provides customer service. This position keeps accurate records of the calls they receive, the drivers, and the actions they take.


Essential Functions/Skills:

  • Plan, coordinate and assign loads in an efficient and cost-effective manner
  • Facilitate communication between drivers, truck pusher and other team members as changes occur or concerns arise
  • Serve as first point of contact for drivers
  • Efficiently coordinate all aspects of the dispatch process ranging from incoming customer calls, load assignments and offload assignments as well as any issues that may arise during the shift
  • Maintain communication and promote a positive, professional relationship with internal and external customers
  • Monitor truck locations and ensure drivers are maintaining timely deliveries
  • Maintain confidentiality of company and customer information
  • Commitment to providing our customers with the highest quality of service
  • Perform related duties as assigned
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment and maintain regular attendance
  • High attention to detail with strong communication & listening skills
  • Organized and self-motivated
  • Excellent customer service and resolution skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize work in a fast-paced environment, and handle a moderate stress environment
  • Ability to identify unscheduled opportunities and make decisions which benefit both the driver and the company
  • Must be efficient in Microsoft applications and Google Sheets
  • Must have the ability to learn mobile applications and other industry applications quickly
  • Must be able to work overtime as business need dictates
  • Must be flexible, with strong teamwork orientation
  • Strong orientation toward safety and continuous improvement
  • Must adhere to company policies, standards and safety guidelines


Safety:


  • Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures
  • Follow establish safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties
  • Ensure shop, equipment and tools are in safe operating condition
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to Fleet Manager immediately
  • Keep work area clean and organized free from unnecessary hazards
  • Follow all policies and procedures, with strict attention to safety, per company policies

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:


Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling and reaching.  Work outside and inside, around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts. Exposure to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, drilling fluids and diesel fuel.
